Nestled on the edge of the Kaituna River and Ōkere Falls inlet feeding into Lake Rotoiti, Trout Pool Cottage offers the perfect balance for a romantic retreat. Set within a tranquil garden, relax and unwind in lakeside bliss. Open up the doors for seamless indoor-outdoor flow to a sun-kissed patio and private courtyard. Grill your catch on the BBQ and enjoy alfresco dining in the serene outdoor space, perfect for unwinding after the day’s adventures. Start your mornings by strolling down to the waterfront with a coffee in hand, soaking in the picturesque lake views where the river flows into the Okere Arm of the lake—captured beautifully from every front room. Inside, indulge in the comforts of home with Freeview TV, board games, and a charming built-in library wall in the master bedroom, creating a cozy reading nook. Both bedrooms and the living spaces capture glimpses of the lake through established trees. Stay warm in winter with an inviting indoor fireplace, maintaining a comfortable ambience year-round.
This peaceful cottage is just a short walk from the local gem, Ōkere Falls Store, where you can grab a coffee, craft beer, or wholesome meal while the kids play. Paddleboarding enthusiasts can easily access the calm waters of Lake Rotoiti, just steps from the house.
For thrill-seekers, the rafting company on Trout Pool Road offers the chance to experience the exhilarating rapids of the Kaituna River, while those seeking more leisurely adventures can explore nearby bushwalks or enjoy a zipline adventure before relaxing in mineral hot pools. Lake Rotoiti offers endless opportunities for boating, fishing, and kayaking, while Rotorua’s amenities—dining, cafes, and essential shopping—are just a short 21 km drive away.

a year agoThe full name of Lake Rotoiti is Te Rotoiti-kite-a-Īhenga, which in Māori means "The Small Lake Discovered By Īhenga" (the Māori explorer also credited with discovering Lake Rotorua) 👀 Legend says that the lake was named as such because when Ihenga first saw it, he was only able to see a small part of it and thought the lake was a lot smaller 🤔 It actually has a depth of 100m in places, is 3.5km wide, 15km long, and stretches over 35sqkm The Rotorua Te Arawa Lakes Programme was established to purify and protect the water 💧 They did a great job, as the water is crystal clear. The water felt so refreshing! If it weren't so cold 🥶 I would have absolutely dived straight in
